Description
Our high-gain tube preamp kit – Z-PRE – is based on London Power’s Zen amplifier – a high-gain monster built for shredders and modern guitar soundsmiths.
Modern high-gain guitar sounds are easily produced with a pair of 12AX7 tubes in a cascaded four-stage preamp. This Soldano-like circuit uses any 12A_7s, with maximum gain achieved by fitting two 12AX7s. Use lower-mu tubes for less gain and smoother tone.
Local supply decoupling is included. 6V and 12V heater wiring is accommodated.
Combine the Z-PRE with our F-PRE Fender-style Preamp Kit for a clean sound; or with M-PRE British-style Preamp Kit as a clean or rhythm sound, selectable using our ERK Electronic Relay Kit or Q-system switching kits.
The board has silk-screening on both sides which allows you to stuff the components appropriately for INTERNAL or EXTERNAL TUBES. For INTERNAL, all the components are on the same side of the board; for EXTERNAL the components are on the opposite side from the tube sockets.
