F-PRE is the classic North American style of clean preamp: two gain stages with an EQ and level control in between. Enjoy the sound of Fender amps, surf music, classic warm clean sound with sweet sustain. The magic of a single 12A_7. This is the standard Fender circuit, used in their entire line after about 1963.
The board has silk-screening on both sides which allows you to stuff the components appropriately for INTERNAL or EXTERNAL TUBES. For INTERNAL, all the components are on the same side of the board; for EXTERNAL the components are on the opposite side from the tube sockets.
On-board muting points are provided for switching between F-PRE and other preamp channels in a multi-channel system. Each gain stage is decoupled for very-low-noise operation.
Heater: 12V at 150mA or 6V at 300mA, AC or DC
Plate: 160 to 450Vdc at 2mA
Use our PSU-PRE preamp, or similar, to build a stand-alone preamp.
Combine with AMP-10 or AMP-25 to build an integrated amp.
The F-PRE “Standard DIY Kit” configuration includes PCB, tube socket and components, and helpful installation notes including layout and schematic diagrams of the kit.
Kit requires assembly. Components may be mounted on either side of the board to facilitate internal or external tube access when mounted in a chassis. Extensive filtering assures very low noise with classic tone.
